The new wedding trends in Dhaka

Well, tis the season to be jolly! So we are now going to explore the many facets and forms of this beautiful season of love in all its glory. Winter is chosen as the season of wedding, because of the temperate climate and of course, it just lasts ever so short, it passes before the very bling of your eye. We are going to raise some rather interesting notions of wedding and its subtle changes over the past decade. If you’ve attended any wedding reception over the past two years, you will have to come to experience a whole new spectrum of drums and beats to celebrate a wedding.

Now there’s many song to sing, many dance to choreograph, many nights to celebrate before the actual reception. People books different wedding venues in Dhaka to arrange their different hosts of celebratory affairs. A ‘rong khela’ is pretty much as the name implies, young and adults joins at a night of extraordinary affair of colors and water splash. Of course the venue is booked at an open ground space, and the celebrations accompany meals and snacks. Feels like a picnic only so much better! As you can see this is now on included on many wedding ceremony.

And of course, some for whom rong khela might be a bit too adventurous, they opt for ‘mehendi night’, a night for girls only! Women’s and girls gets to do henna art as they please, the hosts selects a perfect banquet halls to complement this very gaiety affair.

Of course ideas from the western wedding has slowly seeped into our culture. Bridal shower is like a fancy party where the bride is rejoiced and cherished with fond memories and gifts, a very girly affair! Warning, strictly no men allowed! But no wary boys, you have your own night to yourselves! No women allowed! Behold, the bachelors party! Groom and his mates embraces a night of boisty affair. Of course, generally a small venue like a roof top or small venue is booked to celebrate this fancy events.

But one thing is for certain, where the new layers of celebrations makes it or not, the ‘holud’ will always accompany a wedding reception. A very traditional night of bringing blessings and beauty to the bride and groom. The couples are adorned with turmeric and given blessings on this night for the life to come.
